Infinite Fleet is a crypto PC sci-fi strategy video game developed by the Shanghai-based game development studio, Pixelmatic. Infinite Fleet is set to be a massively multiplayer online real-time strategy game, or MMORTS, with play-to-earn mechanics.
Infinite Fleet is a MMORTS that seeks to bring a AAA quality experience with a Bitcoin enabled in-game economy. The game is built on the Liquid Network, which is a secondary layer of the Bitcoin blockchain, also called a sidechain.
The beta is live as of July 28, 2022.

Infinite Fleet operates much like other crypto video games with a few exceptions. You'll use NFTs to enable flexible ownership of virtual assets. In other words, you must own spaceship NFTs in order to play.
Infinite Fleet is in early development, and an alpha version was made available to early users. The Infinite Fleet store is open and starship NFTs are already available.
The game will first be released on PC, with a possibility for Mac and Linux release. There are also plans for a mobile release.
Infinite Fleet will also have a "companion app," which allows you to:
Infinite Fleet is in its early stages. By allowing players to have access to the game during earlier stages of development, Infinite Fleet plans to evolve with the tastes of the early players.
At the time of writing, you can't do much, except wait for the beta launch later this month. However, we do know that buying an NFT ship will be required to play.
Here's what's planned in terms of gameplay and NFTs:
The Infinite Fleet token is known as INF. It operates as an in-game currency that can be traded among players and vendors for virtual assets and can also be traded among players.
A mobile companion app will make it easy to view an INF balance and access the P2P marketplace. From the mobile app, you can send and receive INF tokens for sales and purchases or to move INF tokens to external wallets.
Image source: Infinite FleetInfinite Fleet won't sell the INF token. The only way that INF tokens will enter the market is through gameplay, in what Infinite Fleet calls its proof of participation model.
The token also has a limited supply, and will be slowly released over time through in-game events.
Once INF tokens enter the market, they'll be available for resale on exchanges. A unique INF token quality is that it's deployed on the liquid network, which is a protocol layer on the Bitcoin blockchain.
Unfortunately, at this time no major exchanges in the US offer this coin. However, you may be able to purchase it with another cryptocurrency, just be sure you're following all legal restrictions and requirements.
Consider buying a different cryptocurrency after comparing popular exchanges.
Play to earn on Infinite Fleet operates on a "proof of participation" model.
The idea is that the Infinite Fleet team won't sell any INF tokens, but will distribute tokens purely through gameplay. This means tokens will be available through participation in special events and missions in the game. A gamified version of proof of work is how the company has described this system.

A fully operational Infinite Fleet in-game economy will allow starships and other virtual assets to be available for purchase using the in-game currency INF.
Access the Infinite Fleet marketplace when you select Store on the main navigation menu at InfiniteFleet.com. When you download the planned companion app, you'll also be able to buy, sell and manage your Infinite Fleet assets.
However, the peer-to-peer marketplace is under maintenance and development at the time of writing.

Upgrades will be represented in the form of NFTs so that players can retain, build and exchange wealth generated in the game. A much wider range of NFT virtual assets will be available, but the developer team hasn't disclosed it yet.
Pixelmatic was founded by Samson Mow, who is also the CEO. The company states, "Infinite Fleet will revolutionize the RTS genre and revitalize the MMO industry."
Based in Shanghai, Pixelmatic was founded in 2011. Veteran game developers from companies like Ubisoft and Activision Blizzard established Pixelmatic. The team's experience is impressive, with contributions including StarCraft, World of Warcraft, Diablo and many other MMORPGs and MMORTS.
Samson Mow is the current CEO, but was previously the Chief Strategy Officer at Blockstream, an organization working to upgrade financial infrastructure built on the Bitcoin blockchain. He was also the COO of BTCC, a bitcoin exchange and mining pool.
Coupled with Pixelmatic's veteran developers behind it, Mow has extensive experience with blockchain technology and tokenomics, so the company's future looks promising.
Despite the beta launch planned for late July, there's not much to do right now — registering, logging in and the store are all under maintenance, no doubt planning for the upcoming soft launch and adjusting after the early-access alpha launch.
Infinite Fleet is also raising funding through something called a security token. The security token is offered through the publisher of Infinite Fleet, Exordium, and is listed under the ticker, EXO.
There isn't much to do with the game right now, but the beta launch is set for July.
The companion app for easy asset management is a nice touch, and the assurement from the developers that this game won't be pay-to-play is enticing as well. And since you can't buy the tokens from Infinite Fleet at all, it may actually turn out to be a true play-to-earn crypto game.
