Chase Bank serves nearly half of US households with a broad range of financial products. Its wire transfer service allows you to send money abroad in over 40 currencies to more than 90 countries worldwide. You can choose between sending secure international money transfers online or at one of its 4,700 branch locations nationwide. Just be aware of member requirements, weak exchange rates and comparatively high transfer fees.
The Chase wire transfer fee you’ll pay depends on how you’re sending the transfer and whether you’re sending or receiving an international or domestic wire transfer. All transfers between Chase accounts are fee-free.
Chase offers lower fees when transferring using its foreign currency exchange option, but keep in mind that the exchange rate offered by Chase may be far weaker than other money transfer providers.
Outgoing (from online) | Outgoing (from a Chase branch) | Incoming | Between Chase accounts | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Chase domestic wire transfer | $25 | $35 | $15 | $0 |
Chase international wire transfer | $40 | $50 | $15 | $0 |
Chase international wire transfer (in foreign currency) | $5 ($0 for transfers of $5,000 or more) | $50 | $15 | $0 |
Like any large bank, Chase updates its rates in line with global currency market fluctuations. The Chase currency exchange rates you’ll be offered are similar to those of other large US banks but not as competitive as the rates you’ll get from a money transfer specialist.
It’s worth keeping in mind that Chase Bank’s wire transfer service adds a 4-7% margin on top of the mid-market exchange rate for international transfers. Therefore, it is best to compare the displayed rate on Chase with the current interbank rate to work out the size of this margin.
Chase Bank allows you to send money in more than 40 currencies to over 90 countries worldwide, including:
You have two options for transferring money with Chase:
You can send your international wire transfer on the same day or initiate a transfer for a future date online or at a Chase bank branch. If you submit your transfer by 4 p.m. ET, it will be processed the same business day.
Through Chase’s online banking service, you can send repeat wire transfers to the same recipient and delegate others to request and approve wire transfers.
Chase only allows payment via bank transfer. You also need a checking account with Chase Bank to use its international money transfer service.
Domestic wire transfers usually take 1-2 working days for the funds to be received, while international wire transfers can take anywhere from 3-5 business days. It’s also important to note that Chase’s total wire transfer limit is $250,000 per business day, and the wire cut-off time is 4 p.m. ET. If you submit your request after this cut-off, it will be processed the next business day.

Hello, I am wondering what is the maximum amount of international money transfer to chase bank account?
Hi Mengfan,
Thank you for your inquiry.
There are money transfer companies who have maximum limit on the amount and there are also who offers no limitation. Should you prefer to transfer with no limitation on the amount. On this page, please navigate to the section “Money transfer providers with no maximum limit”.
I hope this information has helped.
Cheers,
Harold
My brother is living in Houston TX, he has an account with Chase bank. He will go back to Vietnam to sell his house and wiring money to USA. Could he wire his money through Chase bank in Vietnam and we would like to know the fee to pay?
Hello Emily,
Thank you for your inquiry.
Presently, we are unable to verify the specific details of how the transfer would work as we don’t have the name of the bank your brother has with Vietnam.
As for Chase, they are generally accepting foreign inward transactions and can charge a fee (estimated to be $15) which is separate from the fees that in Vietnam. The process will usually take 2-3 business days.
Please take note that there may be transaction limits, local bank fees, and other important details that he has to confirm with the Vietnamese bank prior initiating the transfer. He may want to compare it also with money transfer services (they do have bank deposit capabilities in some countries) to know which is cheaper and faster.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Jonathan
I would like to send funds to an account at JP morgan chase via western union and I would like the ABA #
Hi Kay,
To find your ABA or routing number, your recipient can look at the lower lefthand side of one of their checks. If they don’t have any checks handy, you can find the bank branch and its routing number from the Chase website.

Adrienne
To Whom it may concern
I am from South Africa and have a Student loan at Standard Bank South Africa to pay off monthly. My Employer helped me to open Up A bank Account at Chase, so how do I pay off my student loan from Chase to Standardbank South Africa?
Kind regards
Karina
Hello Karina,
Thank you for your inquiry.
You may do an inward international transfer request on Standard Bank South Africa to receive your funds from Chase. First is you need to supply Chase the SWIFT code (Standard Bank’s SWIFT address is SBZAZAJJ) and your bank account details. Once your money has arrived, you have 30 days to convert it into the local currency and the bank will contact you to verify this transaction for fund release. If they fail to reach you within 30 days, the funds will be returned to Chase, so it is important that you have provided them an updated contact information.
Since this is a student loan, I assume this will be a bit long-term. You need to inform your local bank to convert these funds into local currency as soon as they arrive. Please be advised that there may be fees involved so you may need to contact them for this arrangement.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Jonathan
I want to confirm if Santander bank is the intermediary bank for JP Morgan Chase?
Hi Leo,
Thanks for reaching out.
I’m afraid we can’t confirm if Santander Bank is the intermediary bank for JP Morgan Chase. Are you going to do a wire transfer? With Chase, you can add an intermediary bank where the funds go through to get to your recipient’s account. Most often you would use it when the originating bank does not have a direct relationship with receiving bank.
Cheers,
May
