About the Ford F-450

The Ford F-450 has been around since 1999 and is part of the company’s F-Series lineup. The latest model of the heavy duty pickup truck features a nearly all aluminum structure, to lower the weight of the car and to improve the fuel economy. As part of the F-Series Super Duty lineup, Motor Trend named this model as the 2017 Truck of the Year.

How safe is the Ford F-450?

The 2017 model of the Ford F-450 was awarded a 5-Star Overall Safety Rating by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for safety ratings. The Ford F-450 was awarded four stars, out of five, for the rollover crash test by the NHTSA. The Ford F-450 has side airbags and a driver knee airbag to protect the passengers during collisions. The latest model also features antilock brakes and rollover sensor to provide more safety for the passengers.

In 2017, Ford recalled a few hundred F-450 trucks. There was a driveline vibration if the speed surpassed 75 mph and it would cause a fractured transmission. The fracture of the transmission creates a loss of power while driving or unintended movement while the car was in park.
