To help navigate the complicated world of crypto, we’ve launched a comprehensive review of cryptocurrency exchanges available in Canada.
Our goal is to recognize and award exchanges that excel in a number of important categories such as best overall, advanced trading and beginners. These recognitions are then used to inform our “Best for” selections across many of our cryptocurrency guides.
The Finder editorial team’s ratings
Cryptocurrency exchange platforms are not created equal. To help you identify where an exchange shines – or falls flat – Finder’s editors objectively assess each platform across a spectrum of performance metrics.
Finder considers 6 key factors in our ratings to get an overall score:
- Fees
- Supported cryptocurrencies
- Tools, resources and features
- Account types and products
- User experience and support
- Safety and security
Our ratings are designed to help you assess a cryptocurrency exchange’s strengths and weaknesses. The best way to inform your decision is to read Finder’s full platform review for an in-depth breakdown of its features.
Scoring and rating
Wondering how we work out Finder Score? We compare cryptocurrency exchanges against each other to get our simple score out of 10. Metrics like supported coins, fees and features are weighted and scaled to come up with individual Finder Scores. Exchanges are evaluated on the seven key categories outlined on this page. These categories are broken down into different data points. Some of these data points are features that Finder’s experts consider perks to the main features. Exchanges that offer any of these perks are rewarded with additional points.
- 9+ Excellent – The crème de la crème of crypto exchanges. These exchanges offer the best fees and features, and support the most coins.
- 7+ Great – Slightly lower fees and fewer features, but these exchanges are still competitive.
- 5+ Satisfactory – Typically offering average fees and possibly lacking in the features department. Also support less coins.
- Less than 5 – Basic – The least competitive in terms of coins available, fees and features.
Disclaimer: Cryptocurrencies are speculative, complex and involve significant risks – they are highly volatile and sensitive to secondary activity. Performance is unpredictable and past performance is no guarantee of future performance. Consider your own circumstances, and obtain your own advice, before relying on this information. You should also verify the nature of any product or service (including its legal status and relevant regulatory requirements) and consult the relevant Regulators' websites before making any decision. Finder, or the author, may have holdings in the cryptocurrencies discussed.
