PNC Bank promotions and bonus offers of December 2024

Earn up to $400 for opening personal checking, or up to $1,000 for business checking.

If you plan on switching to PNC Bank, good news — it has a ton of checking account bonuses. Most of the bonuses require setting up direct deposit, keeping a certain average balance or performing a number of transactions.

While PNC’s account bonuses have requirements to meet before you get the cash, the conditions are pretty reasonable. Just keep in mind that PNC bonuses are for new customers or those who haven’t closed a PNC account in the last 90 days.

PNC Bank’s best bonus offer

The easiest PNC bonus offer is the Virtual Wallet direct deposit bonus. Available until October 31, 2024, it offers a $100 bonus for setting up a total of at least $500 in qualifying direct deposits — with no other activity or balance requirements. After you’ve met the conditions, PNC will send the bonus within 60 to 90 days.

The base Virtual Wallet account that offers the $100 direct deposit bonus has a $7 monthly fee. You can waive this fee with $500 in direct deposit, keeping an average monthly balance of $500 across the PNC wallet subaccounts or being over the age of 62.

If you want the most cash for a personal account, the $400 direct deposit bonus with the Virtual Wallet with Performance Select account could be for you, but it requires $5,000 in direct deposits to earn. Additionally, that account has a $25 monthly service fee unless you waive it with $5,000 in monthly direct deposit to your Spend account or a combined $10,000 average monthly balance from all your PNC accounts (up to eight).

What does PNC consider a qualifying direct deposit?

Like most banks with bonus or welcome offers, PNC Bank considers qualifying direct deposits as recurring payroll deposits or regular monthly income, such as paycheck direct deposit, pension and Social Security.

One-off deposits like peer-to-peer transfers, tax refunds, credit card cash advances and other similar transactions aren’t considered qualifying direct deposits by PNC.

Compare more bank account bonuses

PNC offers bonuses for its Virtual Wallet accounts, but those accounts aren’t available in all states. On top of that, the Virtual Wallet accounts have high monthly service fees. PNC’s business account bonuses are high but also have hefty direct deposit and/or balance requirements.

Frequently asked questions

Does PNC have a referral bonus?

PNC doesn’t currently have a referral bonus program for its regular consumer or business accounts. PNC used to feature a referral program for PNC WorkPlace Banking, which is reserved for employees at participating companies and those a part of PNC Organizational Financial Wellness. Currently, the PNC WorkPlace Banking features a $300 bonus when you fund a new PNC mortgage and open a PNC WorkPlace Banking checking account.

Are there banks with immediate signup bonuses?

Not typically, no. To earn bank account or signup bonuses, you almost always need to meet some sort of requirement, like setting up direct deposit or keeping a certain balance. Most bonuses are paid out after the conditions are met, often between 30 to 90 days after you’ve met the requirements and kept the account open and in good standing.

Is PNC Bank giving away $500?

PNC is offering a $500 bonus to new business checking customers who open select accounts and meet requirements. You can earn $500 by opening a PNC Treasury Enterprise Plan or PNC Analysis Business Checking account and meeting average balance requirements.
