How to buy Darktrace shares

Darktrace delisted from the London Stock Exchange in autumn 2024, following a private equity takeover.

The cybersecurity AI pioneer Darktrace debuted on the London Stock Exchange on April 30 2021 at £2.50 per share, which valued the company at £1.7 billion. Shortly after it’s debut, its shares (using the rather nifty ticker “DARK”) rose by 43% to £3.58 per share – an impressive debut.

However the listing lasted less than 4 years, as private equity group Thoma Bravo forked out more than £4 billion to buy Darktrace outright in 2024. Shareholders received a cash payout for their stock, and British Land took Darktrace’s spot in the FTSE 100 index.

So unfortunately it’s not possible to but a stake in Darktrace, but we’ve compiled lists of AI stocks, defensive stocks and tech stocks more broadly, that you can peruse as inspiration for your next investment.

Some notable competitors to Darktrace included Crowdstrike (CRWD) (yes, that Crowdstrike), Palo Alto (PANW), and FireEye (FEYE).
