Head and Shoulders is an anti-dandruff shampoo brand, owned by Procter & Gamble. The brand is fronted by Claudia Winkleman and her iconic fringe in TV adverts claiming that she does indeed use the shampoo. Head and Shoulders has a huge range of shampoo, conditioners and 2-in-1 products, as well as a “pre-shampoo” cleanser. It was founded in 1961 and came about because John Parran, a chemical engineer and bacteriologist from the University of Tennessee wasn’t impressed with existing treatments for dandruff (which included egg oil and coal tar).
It’s possible to invest in Head and Shoulders, but as it’s owned by Procter and Gamble (P&G), you’d need to buy Procter and Gamble shares.
This means that if you choose to invest in Head and Shoulders by buying shares in P&G, then you’ll be investing in the other brands that it owns as well. Research them all, or at least some of the main ones to get a better picture of the company and how it is performing.
