Methodology

In December 2021 finder.com ran a customer satisfaction survey. Respondents in 16 categories were asked how satisfied they were with their provider, and ratings were based on a sample of a minimum 750 responses per sector, excluding business banking and business credit cards that had a sample size of 350, and kids’ cards and gadget insurance which had a sample size of 500, totaling 18,757 responses. The 16 categories were banking, business banking, personal loans, credit cards, business credit cards, kids’ cards, mortgages, TV streaming, breakdown cover, share dealing, travel insurance, pet insurance, car insurance, life insurance, home insurance and gadget insurance. Each brand in the survey had a minimum of 30 responses.

The survey asked respondents how satisfied they are with their provider (from 1 to 5) and whether they would recommend the brand to a friend or not. From this, finder.com calculated star ratings and shortlisted the top-performing brands for our awards. When there was a draw on star rating, the recommendation score (that is, the percentage of customers who said they would recommend the brand to a friend) was used to decide the winner.
