How refer-a-friend offers work

Refer-a-friend offers usually work by you getting a unique code or link from your app or account, then sending that to a friend. They then use that to sign up. Once all the eligibility criteria is fulfilled, the bonus can get paid out. Eligibility criteria could be a minimum deposit or minimum amount of time the account needs to be open. It’s best to only use offers that are achievable to you and for products you’ll actually use, otherwise you could end up with lots of open accounts and unable to keep on top of things.

Bottom line

Refer-a-friend offers are a great way to tell someone else about a bank or app you’re using that you think they’ll enjoy using too. Just make sure you’re aware of what’s required and pick offers that are achievable. If not, you could end up disappointed.

We show offers we can track - that's not every product on the market...yet. Unless we've said otherwise, products are in no particular order. The terms "best", "top", "cheap" (and variations of these) aren't ratings, though we always explain what's great about a product when we highlight it. This is subject to our terms of use. When you make major financial decisions, consider getting independent financial advice. Always consider your own circumstances when you compare products so you get what's right for you. Most of the data in Finder's comparison tables has the source: Moneyfacts Group PLC. In other cases, Finder has sourced data directly from providers.
