Our results estimated that, on average, you could insure your Volkswagen Passat with comprehensive cover for the monthly price of £61.15, or an annual sum of £652.50. To run these quotes, we used the following information:

  • The car is a 2018 model
  • The driver is a 30-year-old teacher from London
  • Manual transmission
  • Petrol
  • 10,000 mileage per year
  • Factory fitted Thatcham approved alarm system
  • Used for social, domestic and commuting purposes
  • The car is not modified
  • The car is parked in a car park during the day
  • The car is parked on a driveway at night

Which factors affect my Volkswagen Passat insurance rate?

Unfortunately, there are just as many factors that are likely to up your premium as there are to lower it. We’ve composed a list of factors for you below:

  • Your age, marital status, job and where you live
  • The model and age of your car
  • Your car’s safety rating, security and any anti-theft precautions
  • Your car usage
  • Your driving history
  • The size of your car’s engine
  • No claims discount

How can I save on my Volkswagen Passat premiums?

When it comes to car insurance, naturally you want to find the best deal for a price that’s affordable for you. We’ve devised a list of tips and tricks for you to help keep your premiums low:

  • Pay annually rather than monthly. By paying annually, you could save an average of £81.30 a year!
  • Make yourself a secure investment. The more that you appeal to insurance companies, the lower your premiums may be. You can do this by keeping a good credit rating and a clean history of no claims.
  • Be economical about your car usage. Whilst its tempting to use your car for all your travelling needs, occasionally opting for public transport or walking will help you to save on your premiums.
  • Don’t just accept your renewal quote. Renewal quotes aren’t always the best option out there, so you should make sure that you shop around.
  • Install extra safety precautions. Providers don’t like to insure risks, so by investing in extra precautions to make your car safer, you may in fact save money.
  • Avoid driving convictions. Driving convictions, or any convictions, will increase the price of your premiums.

Volkswagen Passat facts

  • The Passat has been marketed as the Dasher, Santana, Quantum, Magotan, Corsar and Carat.
  • You can zoom from 0-60mph in between 6 and 10 seconds.
  • A Guinness World Record was set using a 2013 Passat TDI for the best fuel economy of a non-hybrid car. A fuel consumption test was run, and the results equated to almost 80 miles per gallon.

Bottom line

The Volkswagen Passat has made upgrades over the year, seeking to target a more upmarket audience. The insurance prices are a bit higher than similar cars, but you can reduce the cost of premiums with the tips in our guide.
