Rooster car insurance review

Find out what's included in car insurance cover from Rooster and the pros and cons of the policy.

Rooster car insurance aims to stand out from its competitors by offering car insurance quotes based on how its customers actually drive, rather than “crude demographics” such as age, occupation or marital status.

This might intrigue younger drivers, who are traditionally charged a lot more for car insurance.

In this guide, we’ll explore whether Rooster car insurance is an insurer worth considering.

How Rooster car insurance works

To receive a quote from Rooster car insurance, you’ll need to download the Rooster app and take a photo of your driving licence.

From there, you’ll need to make sure your phone is in your car for a few weeks’ worth of journeys. The Rooster app will then measure your driving behaviour and determine how good of a driver you are. You’ll then be offered a quote based on this rating.

These quotes are valid for 60 days. You can customise your policy and pay for it all within the Rooster app.

If you’re judged to be a bad driver, Rooster will refuse to insure you altogether. This allows it to pay out less in claims and pass the savings onto good drivers.

On top of that, you’ll receive £30 for every friend you refer.

Who is eligible for Rooster car insurance?

You have to be aged at least 20 and have 12 months or more of driving experience.

What types of policy are on offer?

Rooster offers comprehensive policies only.

Claims process

Rooster prides itself on a simple claims process.

When you need to make a claim, you’re encouraged to take photos of your vehicle to support the claim.

After that, you need to call 0333 400 1328 and give a few details of the incident. Rooster’s claims team will handle everything from there.
