How can I save on my Mercedes C-Class premiums?

How to save on premiums is a question that most people with insurance ask themselves, so we tried to find you an answer. There are a number of things you could try in order to lower your premium, and we’ve listed some of them below for you:

  • Pay annually rather than monthly. Whilst you may not be keen on parting with such a large amount of money in one go, by paying annually you can actually save yourself money, an average of £201.04 a year!
  • Be economical about your car usage. When you have a car, it’s tempting to use it for all your travelling needs. However, by opting for public transport or walking, you can save on your premiums by keeping your annual mileage down.
  • Make yourself a secure investment. Insurance companies like to know they’re making a secure investment, so by keeping your credit rating good and a clean history of no claims, you may be rewarded with lower premiums.
  • Don’t just accept your renewal quote. When it’s time for renewal, don’t just accept the quote you are given. Make sure you shop around, there may be a better price out there!
  • Install extra safety precautions. The safer your car is, the less of a risk it is for companies to insure. By adding extra safety measures, you may in turn lower your premium.
  • Avoid driving convictions. This one might sound obvious, but having a driving conviction will hike up your premium. Avoiding a driving conviction, or any convictions for that matter, will help you to keep your premium low.

How safe is Mercedes C-Class?

When tested by Euro NCAP in 2014, the Mercedes C-Class was awarded a 5/5 rating for safety. It scored an impressive 92% for adult occupant safety, and gained a great score of 70% for it’s safety assist features.

As mentioned earlier, safer cars are considered a more secure investment by insurance companies. As standard, the Mercedes C-Class comes with a great selection of safety features which may help keep your premiums down. It has basic safety features such as a Seat Belt reminder, as well as features such as ESC, or electronic stability control to help your car stay gripped to the road, and speed assistance. More impressively, the Mercedes C-Class comes with AEB Inter-Urban and AEB City to help you avoid any low speed collisions.

As previously mentioned, the safer your car is, the lower your premium is likely to be. It may be worth asking your insurer what extra safety and security features you can add in return for lower premiums. There are a selection of extra safety measures that are optional, such as the Lane Assist System, which you may wish to consider.

Bottom line

The Mercedes C-Class is a quality executive car. It is somewhat costly to insure, but the tips in this guide will help you to reduce the cost of your premiums.
