Let’s say you’re doing everything you can from the list above: you’re driving less, you’re paying annually, you’re shopping around for insurance quotes. Does that mean you’ll find a Ford Fiesta cheap to insure?

The short answer is yes: all Ford Fiestas are towards the lower end of the insurance price range. However, there is still some variety between models.

One factor affecting insurance groups is engine size. In general, the bigger the engine, the higher the cost of your insurance, because these engines are more expensive to repair or replace. For example, an average 30-year-old may pay £553 for the 1.1-litre petrol Ford Fiesta Style 1.1 Ti-VCT 70PS 3d, but could pay around £562 for the 1.5-litre diesel Ford Fiesta Style 1.5 TDCi 85PS 3d.

How safe is the Ford Fiesta?

Ford Fiestas were awarded a 5/5 safety rating by Euro NCAP when tested in 2017. They tested well for crash protection, and are well equipped with crash avoidance technology. Impressively, this car scored 87% for adult occupant safety, and 84% for child occupants.

  The launch of Ford’s PowerShift transmission, which essentially tried to combine the ease of an automatic transmission with the fuel efficiency of a manual one, caused many of the manufacturer’s models to become associated with transmission issues.
