Our verdict

Financial platform Juni has launched its first virtual business charge card in the UK with issuer PayrNet, offering up to cashback on all your eligible spend and custom credit limits.

Challenger financial platform Juni has partnered by issuer PayrNet and is going head to head with market leaders Capital on Tap and American Express with its brand new virtual cashback business charge card, but what makes Juni stand out?

Aimed at helping your company boost your revenue growth with your everyday business spending, this made-to-measure charge card offers multiple benefits for businesses working in the online marketing space. The card comes with very few fees and you can also benefit from up to cashback on all eligible card spend.

The Juni Business card offers some nifty features if you are planning on using the card to pay for online ads. With the option of daily scalable credit limits (up to £250,000), you could use this to increase your ad spend to "boost your ROAS". Juni is also offering instant credit "based on your balances with networks, processors and accounts you've integrated" with your Juni account.

That all sounds great, but what’s the catch? The Juni Business card has just launched commercially after having a year in beta, so there could be a few hiccups still left to iron out. Another main drawback is that the card is tailored to companies that make use of digital marketing and although the card is available to all UK-based businesses (depending on eligibility), other business credit cards, like the Capital on Tap Business Rewards credit card might be more worthwhile.

Pros

  • Earn cashback on all eligible business spending
  • No annual fee
  • Keep track of ad spend
  • You can integrate your Juni card with Google Ads
  • No FX fees
  • You can choose the currency of the card

Cons

  • As the Juni card is a charge card, you are expected to repay the card in full each month, otherwise you could face a fee
  • Juni does not charge fees but its partner banks do
  • Businesses with a smaller ad spend might not be eligible
  • Trustpilot reviews complain about sudden account closures

Who is Juni?

Juni is a Swedish startup with an online lending platform (not a bank) developed for “made for online advertising”. Founded by Anders Oresedal and Samir E-Sabini in 2020, Juni’s aim is to act as a “financial companion” to companies in the online marketing space.

With the recent announcement that Juni’s Series A funding was extended to $73 million, it’s no surprise that it has quickly turned around a virtual credit product to shake up the current credit card market.

What is the Juni card and how it works

The Juni Business card is a virtual charge card made for ecommerce and issued by PayrNet (a subsidiary of Railsr). Just like any other cashback business charge cards, you can use it for your day-to-day business spending or larger campaigns, but with an additional perk of earning cashback. However unlike traditional business credit cards, Juni has created this card with ecommerce in mind, allowing for high spend limits and relaxed repayment terms to “unlock revenue growth by funding large ad campaigns to reach bigger audiences and boost ROAS.” (Juni) You will also be expected to repay your card in full each month, otherwise you could face a fee.

Features

  • Cashback on all eligible card spend. One of the main highlights of this new digital card is the chance to earn cashback on all eligible spend (subject to T&Cs). With the option for unlimited additional virtual cards for your employees and a maximum daily spend of £250,000, depending on your status, you can make use of the ultimate benefits of this cashback offer, if used correctly.
  • Physical and virtual cards. You can request up to 3 additional physical cards and unlimited free virtual cards at no extra cost.
  • Your choice of currency. Juni offers cards in EUR, GBP and USD, so you can choose the currency that suits you and your business’s needs.
  • High spend limits. Depending on your business’s eligibility, you can benefit from the custom or unlimited daily spend limits (up to £250,000).
  • Integration with Google Ads. You can integrate your Juni Business card with your Google Ads account.
  • Smart Liquidity Boost. Currently under development, Juni is offering instant credit based on the accounts you integrate with them.
  • 37 to 60-day repayment terms. Depending on your eligibility, you could increase your repayment terms up to 60 days. But, remember late repayments may come with a cost.

Juni customer reviews

Juni posted a comparatively low score in our 2024 customer satisfaction survey, with 71% of its business card customers stating they would recommend it to a friend. However, several respondents did say they were satisfied by the customer service provided.

Juni received a relatively high score on Trustpilot of 4.5 out of 5, with reviewers there noting that the company was constantly adding helpful features and that the staff made the effort to maintain regular contact with business customers (updated March 2024).

Verdict

Challenger credit cards and charge cards are emerging at an exhilarating rate and it was about time that a digital business card was brought to the market. With a unique focus on ecommerce, the Juni Business card might be an innovative option for those companies that have plans for large ad campaigns and would be interested in integrating their networks, processors and accounts all in one place. However, if you’re looking for a business credit card with rewards and a reduced focus on online marketing, American Express and Capital on Tap offer some great business credit card and charge card options too.

Repayment options

As the Juni Business card is a charge card, you are expected to repay the full amount each month. You can make manual repayments through your Juni account. Alternatively, you may wish to set up a direct debit.

A direct debit protects you from forgetting to make a repayment and either damaging your credit score, getting hit with a penalty fee () or losing any promotional rates as a result. You can arrange a direct debit for repayments when you apply for the card.

Juni does not charge interest if you pay the balance in full by each payment due date, but be careful, your business may be charged if you carry over a balance. Juni does charge a late repayment fee of and states that interest will be applied to the “outstanding balance (in addition to late payment fees)”. This interest will be calculated on a daily basis.

How to apply

You can apply for the Juni Business card directly through the Juni website.
