These awards identify the most innovative providers across the areas of digital banking, business banking, high street current accounts, personal finance apps and kids’ spending apps.

Welcome to the Finder Banking Innovation Awards 2023

Finder’s series of Innovation Awards recognises financial providers that are innovating in their sector, by bringing impactful features to the market and delivering stand-out benefits to their customers.

Now in their fourth year, these Innovation Awards focus on banking. A shortlist of providers was drawn together by Finder’s subject area specialists and the finalists were then assessed by an expert panel of judges.

We’re delighted to announce the winning and highly commended companies in the following categories:

  • Judging process

    The shortlist of finalists in each category was selected by Finder’s subject area specialists, who identified the providers they felt were displaying key innovations in their field.

    The shortlist was then passed to an expert judging panel (details below), who decided the winning and highly commended companies by assessing the finalists across 3 criteria: uniqueness of innovation, impact in the market and value to customers.

    Kimberley Waldron

    Kimberley Waldron is award-winning advisor and entrepreneur, with 15 years in the financial services and tech industry. She hosts the Future of Banking podcast, chairs the Manchester Fintech committee and is a mentor for Rise by Barclays, Fintech Alliance and Global Tech Connect. Kimberley is board advisor to several fintech start-ups including ekko, Lemon and Payful.

    Matthew Boyle

    Matthew Boyle is the banking and mortgages publisher at Finder, working across the spectrum of banking and personal finance products. He focuses on creating content and helpful guides to assist consumers in making better financial decisions. Matthew has been at Finder for 5 years and has nearly a decade’s experience in digital publishing.

    Timothy King

    Timothy King is a full professor of finance at the School of Accounting and Finance, University of Vaasa, Finland. He has published widely in leading academic journals and is the lead editor, as well as contributor to, the book Disruptive Technology in Banking and Finance: An International Perspective on FinTech.

    Alessandro Hatami

    Alessandro Hatami is the managing partner of Pacemakers.io, specialising in digital transformation in finance. Previously he was the COO of Digital Banking at Lloyds Banking Group and has held several senior roles at PayPal, Paypoint and GE Capital. He is the co-author of Reinventing Banking and Finance.
