Gold Finder Awards Badge
Finder Awards 2023 winner

eToro is an exchange on which you can trade both traditional assets and crypto. The exchange is great for beginners and even some more advanced users, as both the web and mobile interface are highly-intuitive and user-friendly without sacrificing features.

Some of these features include eToro’s “social trading” network where traders can share ideas as well as its Copy Trading function, which allows you to automatically make the trades of traders you choose to emulate. On the downside, the fees for trading crypto are relatively high and the exchange is not available in all US states.

Pros

  • Tiered membership benefits. You obtain different benefits on eToro by keeping different dollar amounts of fiat currency plus equity on the platform. Benefits include access to customer success agents and a subscription to The Wall Street Journal, among others.

Cons

  • Crypto on eToro is not insured. The crypto that you leave in eToro’s custody isn’t insured. This means that if eToro goes insolvent or is hacked, you will have little recourse to retrieve your digital assets.

About eToro — company background

eToro Crypto is an experienced player in the digital trading market, having been founded in 2007. Though it started in Tel Aviv, Israel, eToro has gone international, with headquarters in Cyprus, Britain, the US and Australia among others.

The platform is known for its wide range of features, notably “social trading.” This gives users the ability to track, interact with and copy other traders on eToro. In that sense, eToro is like social media for investors.

The fee structure can be confusing, and there isn’t the huge range of cryptocurrencies that you might see on other popular exchanges. However, eToro compensates by presenting its users with a suite of advanced features, such as contracts for derivatives trading and copy trading. eToro also offers customers the ability to add traditional stocks and commodities to their crypto portfolios (or vice versa).

Listed eToro crypto exchange assets

eToro supports over 105 cryptocurrencies, but some notable assets are missing. Namely, Tether, USDC and Lido Staked Ether, which are in the top 20 cryptos by market cap. In total, 13 of the top 20 cryptos are available on eToro.
