What is Consolidated Credit Canada?

Consolidated Credit Canada is a non-profit credit counselling service based in Toronto that helps people across Canada. It offers free credit counselling via 1-2 phone sessions that take 30 minutes to 2 hours. These sessions let you speak to a counsellor about your financial situation and get advice on the options available to you to help you get out of debt.

You and your counsellor can discuss debt relief solutions such as budgeting, debt management plans, debt consolidation, home equity loans, consumer proposals and bankruptcy.

If a debt management plan is the best solution for you, Consolidated Credit can also help you enroll in and complete a plan. This includes ongoing support and financial counselling while you work to pay off the plan, put together a budget and take steps to improve your credit.

Is Consolidated Credit legitimate?

Founded in 2005, Consolidated Credit is headquartered in Toronto. It is an accredited member of the Ontario Association of Credit Counselling Services (OACCS), the Association of Credit Counseling Professionals (ACCPros) and the Canadian Association of Credit Counselling Services (CACCS).

Consolidated Credit is also Better Business Bureau (BBB) accredited and has an A+ rating from the BBB. It has thousands of positive customer reviews online too.

What to watch out for

  • Counselling is over the phone. Consolidated Credit offers a phone counselling service, so it’s not ideal if you’d prefer to discuss your financial situation in-person with a counsellor.
  • Debt management plan costs. While counselling is free, keep in mind that you’ll pay a monthly administration fee if you enroll in a debt management plan. You’ll also need to pay a one-time setup fee.
