Boxing has long enjoyed a strong following in Canada. From the days when heavyweights ruled the sporting world through to some homegrown pugilists, Canadians have always been interested in the fight game.
It hasn’t always been easy – or cheap – to watch some of the biggest and best match-ups in the sport. Here we breakdown your options for watching the fists fly in the ring.
How to stream boxing in Canada
In Canada, like many parts of the world, boxing has traditionally been found on cable and pay-per-view broadcasts. Networks like TSN, Showtime, Fox PPV and ESPN have access to a variety of boxing events in Canada, often with a very high price tag.
There are also newcomers like Triller, which is another PPV social media option, and DAZN. For this article we are focusing on DAZN, which has a monthly subscription option rather than PPV.
Boxing live streams on DAZN
DAZN is a global sports streaming service that originally launched back in 2016 in a handful of countries and expanded to Canada the following year. On 1 December 2020, it added a further 200 countries to that list and its main sport of choice is boxing.
Rather than a traditional pay-per-view service, one of DAZN’s biggest selling points is its monthly subscription model. For $20/month or $150 for a discounted annual pass, you get access to all of DAZN’s content.
With sport and professional boxing in particular returning from the pandemic, DAZN is making a huge splash in December 2020. The platform has exclusive rights to world title fights featuring three of the fight game’s biggest stars.
You can catch mega bouts from boxing superstars Anthony Joshua (December 12), Gennadiy Golovkin (December 18) and Canelo Alvarez (December 19) in December.
Boxing is just one element of DAZN in Canada. NFL Network, NFL Redzone and NFL Game Pass can all be found on DAZN, along with English Premier League soccer and the MLB Network. You can see more information on DAZN in our comprehensive review.
