About Newton — company background
Based in Toronto, Newton is a Canadian cryptocurrency trading platform. It was founded in 2018 by Dustin Walper, who created Newton shortly after leaving Akira, a telehealth company he co-founded that sold to Right Health and is now owned by Telus Health.
Hundreds of thousands of Canadians now use Newton, which has expanded over the years to support trading around 100 cryptos on desktop and mobile apps.

How to sign up on Newton exchange
Before you can even get started trading on Newton, you have to go through the rigorous verification process (which usually involves providing proof of identification). This can take time. The reason for this is Newton's commitment to certifications and compliance with regulations and insurers.

After selecting the Get Started button, fill in the create account form. - Set up payment
Before you can start trading, you have to add your bank account to your Newton account. There are several options to choose from, so choose the option most compatible. - Provide identification
Before you can make withdrawals and increase your transaction limits, you must submit proof of address and some additional identification. Use either a passport or a driver's license for this. - Start trading
After all that is processed, you're ready to trade on Newton.

The Newton app is available via both the Google Play and Apple App stores. Buy, sell, stake and manage crypto just like you would on Newton's desktop app.
Is Newton safe?
Newton follows a number of best practices for safeguarding customers' data and funds. The company has undergone registration with Canadian securities regulators to reinforce public trust and remain compliant with evolving crypto policies.
Regulation. Newton Crypto is regulated by the Canada Securities Administrators (CSA), the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) and the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis of Canada (FINTRAC).
Asset storage & insurance. Newton holds 80% of client assets offline in custodial cold storage with Coinbase and 20% in hot wallets secured by Fireblocks. Assets have limited insurance coverage through these third parties.
Customer data. The company's dedicated fraud and data security team regularly monitors the platform for suspicious activity. Newton's platform is internally tested monthly and externally tested annually for vulnerabilities. Know Your Customer (KYC) verification is run via Persona, a third-party security identity solutions provider based in California.
