What discounts will be available to me?

In addition to access to the LoungeKey airport lounge program, participating airports may offer special discounts on dining, shopping and spa experiences for customers. However, the program is underdeveloped in many regions, with relatively few special offers on services or retail available. For example, there are no discounts currently available at Heathrow Airport, while at JFK airport in New York, you may be able to qualify for discounted massages or entertainment services.

Credit cards with Mastercard Airport Experiences

Two of the most common types of cards offering theLoungeKey airport lounge program are outlined below, with some examples of each.

  • World Mastercards. These cards offer a number of travel benefits, but only some will give you access to the LoungeKey program.
  • World Elite Mastercards. Many World Elite Mastercards come with LoungeKey access, in addition to giving you preferred access to travel discounts and exclusive offers. Some examples include the BMO Cashback World Elite Mastercard and the World Westjet RBC World Elite card.

With both types of cards, complimentary access isn’t guaranteed. It depends on your card provider, as well as what type of card you have. BMO tends to offer several free visits before charging a minimal fee for access. Other providers charge a small fee right off the bat.

How to register

You can register by going to the Mastercard Airport Experiences by LoungeKey website or by downloading the app. Click the “Register Now” button, and follow these steps to sign up.

  • Verify your details. As part of your account registration, you’ll need to enter your credit card number and personal details to confirm your eligibility for the LoungeKey program.

  • Request entry to the lounge. When you get to the airport, you can simply present your eligible Mastercard and mention LoungeKey to the lounge staff. You can also present your digital lounge access code available after you register for your online account. Depending on the lounge, you may also need to show your valid boarding pass and passport to be able to use its services.

Can I bring a guest?

It depends on the lounge you want to use. Most of the participating locations will allow you to bring a guest, but there might be additional costs or restrictions. These details are usually shown when you search for lounges on the website, which gives you a way to plan ahead and budget for any fees that might apply.

What else do I need to know about the LoungeKey airport lounge program?

Keep these details in mind so you can make the most of this program:

  • Card requirements. You have to supply a valid, eligible credit card to be able to get into participating lounges. If you don’t have your credit card on you, or it’s expired, you’ll likely be turned away.
  • Lounge requirements. Some lounges might have specific requirements for access, like dress codes, fees for extra guests and time limits on your visit. You can find details for individual lounges by using the LoungeKey lounge finder service.
  • Additional charges. You might end up having to pay for some lounges and there could be different charges for additional guests and extra services.

Having a credit card that offers complimentary or discounted lounge access through LoungeKey gives you a way to enjoy luxury between flights all around the world. However, with similar services available through Priority Pass and other services, it’s worth comparing different lounge and credit card options so that you can find one that suits your needs.
