Our verdict
A joint account featuring concierge support and in-app budgeting tools, but it costs extra for more than two people.
The Zeta Joint Account shines with features like in-app messaging, bill pay assistance and real-time notifications, perfect for couples and families tracking expenses together. However, it charges a monthly fee for more than two members and lacks phone support. Additionally, while it offers no monthly fees for couples, its 2.2% APY for VIP members isn’t the highest we’ve seen, and there are deposit and balance requirements to earn it.
Best for: Couples and families who want a shared banking experience.

What we like about Zeta Joint Account
Zeta is not a bank itself. It’s a fintech with banking partners. Its accounts are FDIC-insured, so your Zeta accounts are federally protected up to $250,000 or $500,000 on joint accounts.
The Zeta Joint Account offers a variety of standout perks designed for couples and families looking to manage their finances seamlessly.
No fees for couples
The free Zeta plan has no monthly fees or minimums. Each member gets a debit card and access to spending tracking and alerts. Additionally, once you have a Zeta joint account, you can create a separate personal account.
Zeta also offers a service called Zeta Pay, which allows you to send money to your other account members instantly.
VIP status offers more
There are more perks to be earned with VIP status, such as the ability to earn up to 2.2% APY on your shared checking balance. Zeta VIP members also receive one reimbursed ATM transaction per month and can send checks through Zeta with no fees.
To become a VIP, you must deposit at least $1,000 per month or hold a minimum balance of at least $5,000.
Real-time notifications and budgeting
Stay informed with instant alerts whenever someone on your account makes a transaction, deposits or gets a refund. Zeta also offers spending tracking, which allows users to set weekly or monthly spending limits to keep their budget on track and avoid overspending.
It also features the envelope budgeting system, which lets you sort your funds into little buckets like available balance, bill reserves and savings goals.
In-app communication & concierge
Zeta’s in-app messaging keeps you synced with your account partner(s), and a dedicated Zeta Concierge is available for personalized support when needed.
Where it falls short
While Zeta has many strengths, it has its downsides.
As an online-only banking option, you won’t have access to physical branches. It can only be accessed via its mobile app, with no desktop version available.
Also, Zeta lacks phone support and offers customer service only through in-app chat or via email at support@askzeta.com. If you prefer speaking with a live representative in person or over the phone, you may want to explore other joint banking options.
Other fees
While the two-person Zeta plan has no monthly fees, there are still some costs to consider, such as a $2.50 ATM withdrawal fee, a $25 returned item charge fee for unpaid transactions posted against insufficient or held funds and a 2.75% foreign transaction fee. If you want to transfer funds into the Zeta account through a debit card, there’s a 1.75% fee and the minimum transfer amount is $35.
Additionally, if you want to include more than two members, it costs $6.99 per month for Zeta+.
Limited rewards
The 2.2% APY is only available to VIP members who meet the $1,000 direct deposit or $5,000 balance requirement, limiting access to this benefit.
The 2.2% APY offered is higher than average rates for savings and checking accounts, but there are high-yield accounts with fewer requirements to earn interest.

What is the Finder Score?
The Finder Score crunches over 300 checking accounts from hundreds of financial institutions. It takes into account the product's monthly fees, overdraft fees, opening deposit, customer support options, ATM network and features — this gives you a simple score out of 10.
To provide a Score, Finder’s banking experts analyze hundreds of checking accounts against what we consider is the best option: no monthly fees, no overdraft fees, a large ATM network of 50,000 or more, additional features outside of typical banking services, and the optional perk of earning interest. Accounts that are nearly free to maintain and use are scored the highest, while accounts with costly fees and few features are scored the lowest.

For the Zeta Joint Account, there isn’t a ton of customer feedback available on platforms like Trustpilot and the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Among the few reviews, customer sentient is a mixed bag.
Some users praise the app’s intuitive design and easy setup, noting that it makes managing shared finances a breeze. Users on these platforms have highlighted the in-app messaging feature as a valuable tool for enhancing communication about spending and budgeting goals, making it easier for couples to stay in sync. Additionally, the appealing APY for VIP members and the absence of monthly fees have garnered positive attention from those looking for a cost-effective way to handle their finances together.
On the other hand, some users have reported frustrations on Trustpilot regarding locked accounts due to flagged transactions. Customer support has faced criticism as well, with many expressing disappointment over slow response times via email and the lack of phone support. While the Zeta app generally scores well on Google Play and the Apple App Store, some reviewers mention glitches that detract from their overall experience.
