Types of current account from Halifax
Halifax offers a free everyday current account, plus a range of options for those who are looking for something more specific:
Reward and incentive accounts
Halifax has two different reward accounts that come with various benefits and perks in return for a monthly fee. The Reward Current Account offers preferential rates on travel money as well rewards like a free monthly cinema ticket or £5 in cash, all in return for a £3 monthly fee. The fee isn’t charged if you deposit at least £1,500 into the account each month. The Ultimate Reward Account charges £17 each month and offers extras like travel insurance and home emergency cover. However, the cashback these accounts earn is limited to a restricted number of retailers, so you may want to compare current accounts to see if there’s a better deal available for you.

Halifax’s student account offers a respectable fee-free overdraft of up to £1,500, but it doesn’t come with any freebies, so it may be worth checking out the competition – some student accounts offer incentives such as railcards and retail discounts.
